The POCO F9 Ultra is the flagship model of POCO’s new F9 series and represents a significant shift from the brand’s traditional performance-first formula. Rather than concentrating almost entirely on processor performance, POCO has built the F9 Ultra as a more complete flagship, combining high-end gaming hardware with a huge battery, advanced cameras, a very high-refresh-rate AMOLED display and a distinctive Bose-tuned audio system.
Officially launched globally on September 1, 2026, the F9 Ultra combines Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with POCO’s VisionBoost D8 graphics chipset, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. It also has a 6.9-inch 185Hz AMOLED display, 8,050mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The other major change is its camera system. The phone features a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto camera with OIS and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Its Sound by Bose 2.1-channel system adds an independent subwoofer, something rarely seen on conventional smartphones.
In short, the F9 Ultra is aimed at users who want flagship performance but also care about gaming, battery endurance, media consumption, photography and audio.
POCO F9 Ultra Price and Availability

The POCO F9 Ultra launched globally in three memory configurations:
| Variant | Global reference price | Early-bird price |
|---|---|---|
| 12GB + 256GB | $799 | $729 |
| 16GB + 512GB | $949 | $799 |
| 16GB + 1TB | $1,199 | $1,059 |
These dollar figures are global-market reference prices rather than a universal U.S. retail price. The phone is sold through selected regional Xiaomi/POCO channels, and localized prices differ considerably. For example, official Spanish pricing lists the 12GB/256GB model at €1,099.99, 16GB/512GB at €1,199.99 and 16GB/1TB at €1,399.99, with launch promotions reducing them to €829.99, €899.99 and €1,199.99 respectively.
In the UK, Xiaomi lists the original 12GB/256GB price at £899. Early promotional pricing can therefore be substantially below the standard retail price.
Availability is also regional. The F9 Ultra launched in selected global markets rather than every country. India is not included in the initial global rollout, so there is currently no official POCO F9 Ultra price in India or official India launch date to report.

Design and Build Quality
The F9 Ultra is unmistakably a large flagship. Measuring 163.49mm tall, 77.94mm wide and 8.74mm thick, it weighs 235g. The size is partly a consequence of the 6.9-inch display and large battery, while the independent subwoofer also occupies additional internal space.
POCO uses a fibreglass rear panel, a micro-curved metal frame and a flat metallic camera module. It comes in Black and Dark Cherry, with the latter using a deep red/purple finish.
The phone also carries an IP68 rating. POCO specifies laboratory resistance to static freshwater at up to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes, so the rating should not be interpreted as an invitation to deliberately expose the phone to water.
The biggest ergonomic compromise is simply size. This is not a compact flagship, and one-handed operation will be difficult for many users.

6.9-inch AMOLED Display

The 6.9-inch AMOLED panel is one of the F9 Ultra’s strongest features. Its 2608 × 1200 resolution is lower than some conventional 2K flagship panels, but POCO uses a HyperRGB full RGB subpixel structure to improve perceived sharpness while reducing the display’s power requirements.
The headline feature is the 185Hz refresh rate. A high refresh rate makes scrolling and animation feel smoother, but the practical importance is greatest in gaming. The F9 Ultra’s 185Hz capability is not universal: POCO explicitly says the maximum refresh rate and 185FPS experience depend on supported applications and games.
Brightness is equally impressive on paper. POCO rates it at up to 10,000 nits over 1% of the display area and 4,500 nits over 25%. It also has 2,200-nit HBM brightness and an 850-nit typical brightness figure.
The panel supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, DCI-P3, 12-bit color and 68 billion colors. It also includes DC dimming and TÜV Rheinland eye-care certifications.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Performance
The POCO F9 Ultra uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm N3P process. The POCO configuration has two Prime cores reaching 4.6GHz and six Performance cores reaching 3.62GHz.
Qualcomm’s platform uses its third-generation Oryon CPU architecture and Adreno GPU. Qualcomm reports significant generational gains in CPU performance, efficiency and graphics performance, although exact results depend on the phone and software implementation.
Memory is also appropriately flagship-grade: up to 16GB LPDDR5X at 9600Mbps, while storage uses UFS 4.1. That combination should provide fast application loading, strong multitasking and plenty of headroom for demanding games.
POCO quotes an AnTuTu V11 score of 4,165,108. This is a manufacturer/internal-lab result recorded at approximately 25°C, not an independent benchmark, so it should be treated as a reference rather than a guaranteed score for every retail device.

Gaming Features
Gaming is central to the F9 Ultra’s identity. The VisionBoost D8 chipset works alongside the Snapdragon platform to provide features including super-resolution, smart frame-rate processing and Game HDR. POCO also uses its WildBoost Engine for scheduling, frame-drop mitigation and thermal management.
The phone supports up to 185FPS in selected games, with POCO saying its 185FPS ecosystem covers more than 20 titles. Importantly, this does not mean every game runs at 185fps. Game support, graphics settings, software version, temperature and network conditions can all affect the actual result.
For control, the phone offers up to 480Hz touch sampling in selected games and up to 4,800Hz instant touch sampling through Game Turbo. A 200Hz gyroscope sampling rate is also available for supported games.
Cooling comes from a 6,300mm² 3D IceLoop liquid heat-pipe system combined with 17,820mm² of graphite. POCO says the 3D structure can reduce SoC temperature by up to 3°C under its testing conditions.
Independent reviews generally find the phone very capable for gaming, although sustained workloads can still produce noticeable heat.
POCO F9 Ultra Camera System

The POCO F9 Ultra camera setup is considerably more ambitious than previous performance-focused POCO phones.
The primary sensor is a 200MP f/1.68 camera with OIS, supported by a 50MP periscope telephoto with OIS and a 50MP f/2.4 ultrawide. The telephoto provides a 120mm-equivalent focal length and native 5x optical zoom.
In daylight, the high-resolution main camera gives the phone plenty of detail and cropping flexibility. Its 16-in-1 pixel-binning architecture can also produce lower-resolution images with larger effective pixels when maximum 200MP output is unnecessary.
The 5x periscope is arguably the more important addition. It makes portraits and distant subjects considerably more versatile than a standard 2x or 3x telephoto, while OIS helps maintain stability. POCO also advertises 10x lossless zoom and 20x AI Ultra Zoom.
The 50MP ultrawide is useful for landscapes, architecture and group scenes, although independent reviews suggest the ultrawide does not necessarily match the main camera’s quality in every situation.
Video recording reaches 8K at 30fps, while 4K recording is available at 30fps and 60fps. The phone also supports Log video, slow motion and several stabilization and cinematic features. The front camera is 32MP and can record 4K at 30fps.
8,050mAh Battery and Charging

Battery life may be the F9 Ultra’s biggest practical upgrade. Its 8,050mAh battery is the largest capacity POCO has put into an F-series phone. Independent reporting identifies the cell as silicon-carbon technology, allowing higher energy density than conventional graphite-based batteries.
POCO claims up to two days of battery life based on its internal simulated-use testing. That figure should not be treated as a guarantee because display brightness, gaming, mobile-network conditions and individual usage can dramatically change endurance.
Charging is excellent. The F9 Ultra supports 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge. POCO’s laboratory figures put wired charging from 1% to 100% at approximately 50 minutes using the appropriate 100W charger, while 50W wireless charging reaches 50% in approximately 37 minutes under specified conditions.
It also supports up to 27W wired reverse charging and 22.5W wireless reverse charging.
Bose Audio System
The Sound by Bose system is one of the F9 Ultra’s most unusual features.
Instead of conventional stereo speakers alone, the phone uses two symmetrical 1115D speakers alongside a dedicated 1620 independent subwoofer, creating a genuine 2.1-channel configuration. POCO says the arrangement is designed to provide deeper bass and a wider soundstage.
There are Dynamic and Balanced sound profiles, plus 15-level volume-based tuning. This makes the F9 Ultra particularly interesting for people who frequently watch films, listen to music or play games without headphones.
The rear also has Dynamic Light functionality. POCO says the lighting can work with selected games and scenarios, while independent reviews have reported lighting effects for music and notifications.

Software and AI Features
The F9 Ultra launches with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Xiaomi/POCO’s software adds AI-powered tools such as writing assistance, translation, subtitles, image editing and other productivity features, although availability can differ by region and software version.
The phone also benefits from Google’s Android ecosystem and Gemini-related features in supported markets. Importantly, not every AI feature is processed locally on the device; some functions require an internet connection or cloud services.
POCO has committed to four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates, according to independent launch reporting. That is a meaningful improvement for long-term ownership, although brands such as Samsung still have an advantage in the length and consistency of flagship software support.
Connectivity and Other Features
Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and USB-C 3.2 Gen 1. The phone supports dual-SIM configurations including nano-SIM plus eSIM or eSIM plus eSIM, although eSIM availability depends on the country and carrier.
Biometric security comes from an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and AI face unlock. An IR blaster is also included, while navigation supports GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou and QZSS.

| Software | HyperOS 3 / Android 16 | HyperOS / Android 16 |
| Launch price | From $799 | From $729 |
The F9 Ultra is not a straightforward performance upgrade because both generations use the same Snapdragon platform. The improvements are instead concentrated around the display, battery, main camera and storage options.
For an F8 Ultra owner, upgrading makes the most sense if the 200MP camera, 185Hz display and 8,050mAh battery matter. Otherwise, the F8 Ultra remains powerful enough that a discounted price could make it the better value.

POCO F9 Ultra vs Competitors
| Phone | Processor | Display | Battery | Charging | Camera focus |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| POCO F9 Ultra | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 | 6.9″, 185Hz | 8,050mAh | 100W + 50W wireless | 200MP + 5x |
| iQOO 15 | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 | 6.85″, 144Hz | 7,000mAh | 100W + 40W wireless | 50MP triple |
| OnePlus 15 | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 | 6.78″, 165Hz | 7,300mAh | Fast wired charging | 50MP triple |
| Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra | Flagship Snapdragon platform | Large LTPO AMOLED | Smaller battery | Slower charging | Ultra-premium camera system |
The iQOO 15 is particularly relevant for performance-focused buyers, offering the same Snapdragon platform, 7,000mAh battery and 100W charging, while its 2K 144Hz display emphasizes resolution over POCO’s extreme 185Hz gaming focus.
The OnePlus 15 similarly combines the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with a 7,300mAh battery and 165Hz display, but its software experience is a major part of its appeal.
The F9 Ultra’s strongest competitive argument is therefore not simply raw performance. It is the unusual combination of 185Hz gaming, 8,050mAh capacity, 50W wireless charging, 5x periscope photography and Bose 2.1 audio.

Who Should Buy the POCO F9 Ultra?
The F9 Ultra is especially well suited to mobile gamers who want a large, fast display, powerful chipset, aggressive cooling and high touch responsiveness.
It is also a strong choice for power users and heavy multitaskers because the combination of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, up to 16GB RAM and UFS 4.1 storage provides substantial performance headroom.
For battery-focused users, the 8,050mAh cell is one of the phone’s most compelling features.
Content consumers also get an excellent package: a huge AMOLED display, Dolby Vision support and a rare 2.1-channel Bose audio system.
Photography users have more reason to consider POCO than with older F-series phones, but those who prioritize the most consistent camera processing and video performance may still prefer a camera-focused flagship.
Is the POCO F9 Ultra Worth Buying?
The answer depends heavily on price.
At its early-bird pricing, the F9 Ultra becomes particularly attractive because it offers hardware normally associated with considerably more expensive flagships. At full regional MSRP, however, the value proposition becomes less dramatic and the phone has to compete directly with Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, iQOO and other premium devices.
Its biggest advantages are not hidden: the 8,050mAh battery, 185Hz display, 5x telephoto and Bose subwoofer genuinely differentiate it.
The main question is software refinement and whether you need the extreme gaming hardware. If gaming and endurance are priorities, the F9 Ultra is easy to recommend. If camera consistency, compact design or the longest possible software support matter more, competing flagships may be a better fit.
Final Verdict
The POCO F9 Ultra is a much more complete flagship than the performance-oriented POCO phones of the past. Its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 provides top-tier performance, while the 185Hz AMOLED display, 8,050mAh battery and Bose 2.1 audio system give it a distinct identity.
The camera system is also a meaningful step forward, particularly because the 200MP main camera is paired with a 5x periscope rather than treating photography as an afterthought.
Its biggest weaknesses are its size, higher price and regional availability. It also does not deliver a major CPU-generation jump over the F8 Ultra.
For gamers, power users and battery-focused buyers, the POCO F9 Ultra is one of the most interesting performance flagships of 2026. For F8 Ultra owners, however, the upgrade is most compelling when the improved camera, display and battery matter more than processor performance.
